Sir,

Thomas Edison has written: "The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and in the cause and prevention of disease". Why may the famous scientist have been right?

Not all tasty things are necessarily healthy for the body. On one hand, the choices on tables have increased exponentially, on the other hand, the quality of all that food remains questionable. For example, it is not possible that groceries with an extremely long storage time could be healthy. "When eating the wrong things, the food will not break down completely in the gastrointestinal tract and undesirable substances will absorb into the blood stream. The organism will recognise the necessary nutrients, but to protect itself against new and harmful substances, it must constantly develop new antibodies," explains Adik Levin Dr., whose thoughts I shall rely upon below. "Therefore, the immune system is constantly working overtime, so to say, and cannot do its regular work. The results include frequent and deep fatigue, vague malaise, excessive weight, the incidence of diseases, including increasing incidence of chronic diseases at a younger age."
"The modern man does not need the atom bomb, he is destroying himself," says Dr. Levin, whose mission it is to save humanity from a certain doom.

Thousands of books have been written about the right way to eat. In addition, relevant recommendations are included in a number of magazines. People, however, do not know whom to trust. For example, some say that one should not drink coffee because it raises the blood pressure. Others say that one does not develop cancer due to drinking coffee. Whom to trust? How to help yourself in case of health problems?

A variety of warnings and recommendations concerning nutrition are given: (1) During the war, it was noticed in England that the incidence of illnesses decreased. That happened due to the fact that in a darker flour, all the vitamins of group B were preserved. On the other hand, high quality wheat flour has absolutely no nutritional value; (2) Use brown sugar instead of the nice white sugar; (3) Use unrefined oils. Extra Virgin oils are especially good; (4) Using egg yolks is not recommended, yet a new living being is born from an egg; (5) The special healing properties of yogurt have been "discovered". The artificial compounds yogurts are full of, however, are not healthy; (6) Candy is often filled with aspartame, colourings and trans-fats instead of sugar; (7) Mediterranean apples should always be peeled. The workers there spray the fruit with antiseptics and use protective masks while they do it; (8) Norwegian salmons are grown with growth hormones and antibiotics in pools, colorants and other such things are added to their food.

Eating such foods has made our bodies decay proof - even the microbes in the soil will not want us. For this reason, the Nordic countries have permitted new bodies to be buried in cemeteries no sooner that in 30 years' time.

In the 21 st century, we have three choices:

  • I shall live as I wish. I shall continue eating the way I always have
  • I shall change my lifestyle 180 degrees. I shall get away from the city and move to the countryside, get myself a goat and grow my own food
  • I shall find out which foods suit me and which do not. I shall start thinking about how to help myself.

Below, I shall be discussing the third option. We know man and we know the things food contains. Yet, we do not know what kind of food is suitable for a particular person. What is the result of eating the wrong things? Take a look at the multitude of chronic diseases, how widespread polyarthritis is, etc., Currently, there are 70 000 diabetics in Estonia, and in 15 to 20 years' time, that number is believed to reach 200 000. We have never had this much diabetes! In a situation like this, we have to start thinking about what to put in our mouths very carefully.

People are not the same and therefore, they cannot eat the same way. What is allowed and favourable for one person, is strictly prohibited for another. People do not have the same faces, why should the same food suit everyone? This is called the individual nutrition programme, which is based on the principle of hidden food intolerance.

Researching hidden food intolerance is still in its infancy, since the first studies were carried out in the 1930s and laboratory research was launched as late as in the 1980s. The existing methodology allows reducing the use of medicinal products and gives the body a chance to recover its health.

A person can help him/herself. Sounds simple, but it is relatively difficult to implement. Especially since it is said that all nutritional principles should be forgotten, as they cause illnesses.

The first thing that Dr. Levin suggests to do is to cut out all dairy products, cottage cheese, butter, cheese, etc., Many people are also advised against a variety of nuts: Walnuts, cashew nuts, almonds. Therefore, please find out which foods are suitable for you. Hang in there for three months, because during this time, your body is getting used to the new regime.

There are, however, many other suggestions:

  • Stretch the eating process over a longer period of time, eat in small quantities. Chew every mouthful thoroughly
  • Do not eat different foods in a single meal (for example, one should not have potatoes with meat, nor fish with rice). This is called the principle of eating each food group separately. Dr. Levin says that a lunch, which starts with borscht, followed by entrecote with potatoes and finished with watermelon, is a knife blow to the stomach. Not to mention the other errors - watermelon and melon are not to be eaten with any other food
  • In the course of three months, one should not have a drop of alcohol or eat yeast products, as the fermentation process in the intestine will ruin the desired result. Food products best left unbought and uneaten - margarine (butter is the real thing); canned food (the food is dead); packed juices (juices in glass jars are good); white sugar; fizzy beverages; preservative bombs (yogurt, sweets and other things with a long shelf life); refined cooking oil (unrefined is healthier); smoked and fried foods, etc.

The choice is yours! You can continue in the old way, but you have to take into account the increasing body weight and heightening blood pressure over the years. Soon, you will develop chronic fatigue and constant stress. You will not be able to sleep well nor wake up completely rested. You will catch every last virus and have the snuffles all through the winter. Why? Because your body is busy digesting food, which is mainly garbage. "A proper diet means that all the food eaten breaks down to end products. Then, energy is produced and the immune system strengthens. If the food is not broken down, food garbage is formed, which may do a lot of harm to the body," declares Dr. Levin.

By being able to follow those principles, however, the results are impressive.

Adik Levin Dr., a top pediatrician in Estonia, has made a U-turn in his retirement and began to preach the right nutrition. And not only the right eating, but individual approach to each person. Adik Levin is a doctor who himself has been gravely ill for the last few years. He is a diabetic and he has had several operations, followed by a lengthy hospitalisation. The doctor himself had a decisive moment: Whether to do something for himself immediately or to come to the end of his life, in terrible health and low spirits due to being overfed medicinal products. Levin chose the former and a miracle occurred - by eating the food right for his organism, the man got a second chance. Although diabetes is incurable, correct individually adjusted nutrition and treatment can help. After recovering with the help of a diet and individually adjusting the diabetes treatment, the man is a living advertisement for his nutrition theory. He also no longer uses blood pressure medication, since he has lost over 15 kilograms. Despite his age, Dr. Levin is currently energetic and full of ideas.

There are many more examples of the positive effects of following the principles of individual nutrition.

Rein Taaramδe, an Estonian professional cyclist writes.
"The biggest breakthrough this year has been the adjustment of my diet. I thought I ate clean and well before, but I still had a lot of trouble with my stomach. A pretty harsh truth was uncovered -cows' milk, cottage cheese, eggs, coffee, cheese, walnuts, lamb, peanuts, yogurt, cod, malt, and cashew nuts are all completely unsuitable for my body. This outcome was quite shocking, but I wanted to get better. The improvement of sport results speaks for itself; however, I also noticed that various minor illnesses such as coughs, colds and sore throats disappeared. This spring was probably the first time in the last 10 years when I escaped a sore throat. Dr. Levin said that the new diet will be accompanied by the improvement of health. Here is my suggestion - athletes who have problems with their health or their stomach, should follow an individual nutrition program. It can change your life!"

To the author of this piece of writing, cows' milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, eggs, trout, cucumber, walnuts, sprat, herring, frankfurters, sausage, butter, buckwheat, honey, lemon, and almonds are also not advisable. I really need determination and willpower to completely change my eating habits. However, an increase in energy and working capacity await, along with improved health. It is worth the fight and the effort. If I don't try, I will never find out how my life could be even more full and happy than it is now.

The creator of the individual nutrition program system is Dr. Anatoly Volkov from Moscow. The Ecolabmedtest Clinic [1] was founded in 2000 in order to carry out the clinical approbation of the method of analysis of individual sensitivity to the food. The clinic started receiving patients in 2002. The head physician of the Clinic is Anatoly Viktorovich Volkov. To get a better overview, the food products will literally be put on red and green cards according to test results. During the next three months, the food products on the red card are prohibited. That way, the body will get a rest from all the products it has "overeaten." This gives the body enough time to retune. After three months, the products on the red list are slowly moved to the green list. The ones least tolerated by the patient will be cut out of the diet completely.
